| Manga...other wise known as Comic books.... |

Manga is what people would know as comics. A lot of anime had their start from this art.
I've always liked reading American comic books, but in these few years,
a friend of mine had gotten me into reading manga's as well.
Right now I subscribe to Nakayoshi, (for those who know what I'm talking about).
Generally, by Japan's standards, manga are at first release into huge recycled paper-telephone-like books that has other manga stories in there.
These books are generally to be read and then thrown away.
In each of these telephone books, there is only one episode or
chapter of the story. Later after several chapters are released, a manga company would generally release the
Tankobon. A tankobon is a pocket size smaller compiled version of one specific
manga.
To get people to subscribe to a particular manga releasing company. Companies would generally get into giving free package or prizes of small items like bookmarks, cards or writing stationary away, this package is called the
furoku. I've seen only three companies would do something like this, that is
Nakayoshi, Ribon, Sho-comi (Shoujo Comic) and Ciao.
Of all the comic that I know, Nakayoshi is well known for it's releases in Card Captor Sakura, Bishojo Senshi Sailor Moon, Cyber Idol Mink and Da da
da. Ribon on it's releases on Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne, Marmalade Boy and Gals.
*Mostly it's Shojo art that would give away stuff like
that. Shonen stuff would generally be just there to be sold.*
Other then that, like with my anime taste... I'm pretty much the same with
manga. I like them all too much to say too much on my broad taste.
Shojo is young female genre type of comics with romantic angst type scenario.
Sailor Moon, Fushigi Yuugi and Magic Knight Rayearth are examples.
Shonen is young male genre type of comics with a lot of action or comedy scenery.
Ranma 1/2, Dragon Ball and Yu Yu Hakusho are examples.
When I started out with reading manga. I liked Shonen stuff, but with my friend's influence, I'm starting to like reading shojo
manga.
Mangas that I like
- Kodomo no Omacha
- Yu Yu Hakusho
- Sailor Moon
- Clover
- Ranma 1/2
- Vampire Princess Miyu
- Kareshi Kanokojo no Jijou
- City Hunter
Anyways...nowadays....other then collecting manga, which I like to get... the friend who has gotten me back into reading comics, has introduced another manga to me....people might have heard of that
manga. It's Ribon's Gals, my friend loves to compare us to the character, she says that I'm Ran, the manga's leading character.....
Till next commentary or update... Ja ne ^ ~
